The Osteria dei Catari, located in an alley of Monforte, offers recipes from the Langhe that vary according to the seasons. On the wine list appear the best labels, mostly Piedmontese. Important, from a creative point of view, the work of Gregor Durlik, Polish painter who, thanks to his artistic influences, has made the restaurant original and characteristic. The name of the tavern takes its cue from the events of the Càtari, a group of Christians who lived in the fortress of Monforte at the beginning of the 11th century. Their customs and beliefs knew of heresy and, when the Bishop of Milan was informed that in Mons Fortis an unprecedented heresy was practiced, he conquered the castle and tried to bring them back on the right path. The powerful of the city, fearful that those strange ideas would take root in the Lombard capital, they erected a large cross on one side and lit a fire on the other, forcing the Cathars the choice between embracing the cross or die in the fire. History says that they chose fire.

Located in the historic center of Monforte, in the upper and old side, Le Case della Saracca are able to revive a slice of history. It is the fourth medieval houses that have kept their outwardly austere image while inside were refurbished to give origin to a restaurant with several small rooms built with games of crystal and steel. Raw materials of excellence and little work in the kitchen to change as little as possible the quality, give rise to a varied menu with traditional dishes and fish, accompanied by wines from one of the most renowned wineries in the area. The restaurant also has its own grocery store in the bar area. The Osteria I Rebbi was opened in Summer 2013 in a restored old farmhouse, situated among the vines and hazelnut groves of the hamlet of San Sebastiano in the town of Monforte d’Alba, near the border to the town of Dogliani. The dining hall offers 10 tables to make comfortable up to 35 guests. On summer season the garden is the perfect setting to experience the Langhe suggestive atmosphere while having a delicious meal. The courses change according to the seasonal availability of the finest and freshest ingredients the land offers.
In a rollercoster of flavours and scents they prepare light and healthy dishes from the starters to the desserts. Homemade pasta, local Piedmont meat and cheese from the nearby valleys are the leading attractions. Pets of any size are not allowed.

In Perno, a small village 5 km from Monforte, the talented chef Marco Forneris and his partner Elena have opened the Republic of Perno, a typical Langa tavern which is not denied a modern look but in the dishes and bottles it is firmly anchored in the local tradition. In the small room on the first floor or rather in the outdoor area overlooking the vineyards, you will find Russian salad and veal with tuna sauce, tajarin, dumplings and ravioli, kid, financier, boiled chicken and finally the traditional dessert, bonet and panna cotta.
